Everybody carries a heavy cross even if they do not show it
Don't let social media fool you. Everybody has a heavy cross they're carrying. A lot of people just aren't showing it. As I get older, I start to realize that everybody has a cross that they're bearing. A heavy cross. It could be family. It could be somebody being sick in the family. It could be a marriage. It could be financial. It could be emotional. It could be physical. But there is a cross. And my generation, I'll speak for me, we were taught, don't talk about it. Don't be a problem. Don't give people your problems. Suck it up, buttercup. Do what you got to do and move on and things will work out. And as I get older, I'm starting to realize part of that equation was right. But it's not healthy to just suck it up and shove it down inside and never deal with that cross.
There are some people next to us that we don't know the burden they have and how heavy their cross is and they don't tell us but we see it in their attitude, personality and actions. Let's be a little compassionate, a little patient, and maybe try to understand why they are the way they are without passing judgment, giving advice, just to listen. I think that would go a long way. I think it's interesting that a lot of us have a lot of people we call friends,but we've learned to not be as vulnerable with those friends or those family members because of fear of being vulnerable, criticize, fear of not being worthy or whatever you want to or guilt or whatever you want to call it.I think this world would go would be a lot better if we just were not so quick to judge and maybe just listen with compassionbecause I think if we do that and we put ourselves in their shoes, we might see things a little different.
So next time you come across someone who is having a rough day, don't be quick to judge them. Just listen to them. What's going on? Might go a long ways with someone. That's age talking. Now, as I get older, my perspective changes, and I'm starting to realize more and more people around me, close to me, have heavy crosses, and they just never showed it.
